Stonewall Anniversary Tour

Friday, June 28, 2019, 12 noon to 2 pm

Free for members or with Museum admission

The Aldrich welcomes you to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Stonewall this Friday, June 28. Aldrich Educator Noah Steinman will lead a tour exploring the history of the Stonewall Riots as they relate to our current exhibition of Harmony Hammond’s work in addition to a new short-term outdoor installation commemorating this special anniversary, Colors of Progress.

Colors of Progress, presented by Phil America, is public artwork consisting of flags inspired by the many sacrifices and accomplishments made by members of the LGBTQ+ community over the past 50 years. Our flag will feature the words of Gavin Newsom, reading “the fight for equality is not over.” In this, viewers are called to consider the experiences of those marginalized not only in the past, but who continue to face oppression today.
