Steps for “Untitled (Mesh A–J)” is a site-specific work developed by artist, dancer, and choreographer Madeline Hollander in response to Eva LeWitt’s installation Untitled (Mesh A–J). The choreography will present a series of 10 movement sequences (A–J) designed for three dancers that will focus on the geometry of the installation’s symmetrical curves, negative space, and acoustics to create choreographic palindromes; sequences that appear the same forward and backwards. The piece will be simultaneously highly choreographed and live, so that patterns will be in continuous flux and evolve over time. The sequences A–J will repeat, but their trajectories and timings will vary according to various conditions and surroundings that will be determined throughout the rehearsal process. Visitors are invited to stay for the entire performance (total duration of 3 hours) or experience a segment of it.

Madeline Hollander is a New York-based artist whose performance and video work tests the limits of the human body within everyday systems and probes the intersection of dance and the visual arts. Her work was included in the 2019 Whitney Biennial at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York.
