Join us at Camp Aldrich for a full-day, week-long arts experience with Museum educators and practicing artists. Weeks are themed and tailored to specific age groups for the ultimate creative learning environment. On Wednesdays campers will walk into town for a local field trip. Family and friends are invited to a culminating art show on Friday evenings. Caregivers receive personalized daily emails from the Camp Aldrich team sharing what their child learned and did that day.
Architects in Training: Grades 1-3
Discover what it takes to build one-of-a-kind structures from start to finish with teaching artist Adam Handler! Design cities, build bridges, create monuments, and explore the art of architecture, all in The Studio. Pull inspiration from our current exhibitions, including the monumental works in our Sculpture Garden to the small constructed works in our galleries, to generate new and exciting ideas. Campers will work on individual and collaborative projects experimenting with a range of materials and sculptural techniques.
Drop Off: 9 to 10 am: Campers have the option to draw, read, play, or participate in group activities while all the children arrive.
Artist Session: 10 am to 12 noon: Campers work with the teaching artist on their projects, experimenting with art-making techniques, and exploring the galleries and Sculpture Garden.
Lunch and Outdoor Play: 12 noon to 1 pm: Time to eat (outside if the weather permits) and then participate in games and activities in the Sculpture Garden or The Studio.
Artist Session: 1 to 3 pm: Campers continue to work with the teaching artist on their projects.
Snack: 3 to 4 pm: Children enjoy a snack (outside if the weather permits), and then have time to add final touches to their work for the day and/or take part in games/activities.
Pick Up: 4 to 5 pm: Campers have the option to draw, read, play, or participate in group activities while caregivers arrive to pick up the children.
