Aldrich alumni artist Sharon Louden moderated a lively and thought-provoking conversation between Aldrich exhibitions director Richard Klein, artists and book contributors Austin Thomas, Steven Dufala and Billy Dufala, and Aldrich exhibiting artist William Powhida, about her second publication, The Artist as Cultural Producer: Living and Sustaining a Creative Life, a collection of essays that describe how artists extend their practices outside of their studios. Writer and editor Faye Hirsch moderated a roundtable discussion between exhibiting Aldrich artist Suzanne McClelland and artists Erica Baum and Michael St. John. Hirsch opened with an engaging dialogue about how visual artists look outward at, and delve into, the geographic and economic landscape as content for their work. Proposal for The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum No. 14: Choral Piece Written For and Performed By the Employees of Ridgefield Hardware, 2016 is the realization of Peter Liversidge proposal —a choral performance written by the London-based artist and performed by the employees of Ridgefield Hardware, the local family-owned and operated shop that has been a fixture of the community since 1938. Award-winning composer and interdisciplinary choral conductor Esmeralda Conde Ruiz conducts the performance. Performed January 28, 2017.
