Project Room in (Impossible) Moonlight, 2006
$650.00Silkscreen print
Aldrich Edition of 25, signed and numbered.
The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum is pleased to announce a new Aldrich Edition, Project Room in (Impossible) Moonlight by Mary Temple. Aldrich visitors will recognize Temple's skill and originality from her trompe l'oeil installation, which traced an imaginary shard of light from the outside of the Museum through the Project Space earlier this year. Now, Temple has created a limited edition print for purchase in the Museum store so visitors can enjoy her beguiling artistry in their own homes.
Temple explains her edition...
"While installing Extended Afternoon at The Aldrich last year, I noticed that even though it was night and the lights were out, the Museum was really
quite brightly lit. The night sky was flooding in at all angles, striating the blackness into hues of grey and blue. Outside the ancient ash tree darkly
framed the bright starlight. In the Aldrich Edition I wanted to respond to that phenomenon and complete the cycle I had begun in Extended Afternoon.
For Project Room in (Impossible) Moonlight, I've invented a northern moon that can shine into the project space and distribute shadows of the ash tree
across the room extending the evening's light."
