2005 Larry Aldrich Award recipient Kara Walker and Aldrich Director Harry Philbrick

Aldrich Major Gifts
Silver $5,000 / Gold $10,000 / Platinum $20,000
I would definitely include Larry among the great philanthropists—from Emily Fisher Landau to Les Wexner to Roy Neuberger—who have contributed immeasurably to our understanding and preservation of contemporary art.
—Agnes Gund, President of the Board of Trustees, The Museum of Modern Art, on the occasion of Larry Aldrich's memorial service in October 2001
Aldrich major gifts constitute a significant way to support the Museum's mission of championing emerging and mid-career contemporary artists by providing a major source of operating support for curatorial and educational programming. Larry Aldrich, the Museum's founder, began supporting contemporary art by acquiring works for his own collection, then moved on to funding The Museum of Modern Art and Whitney Museum of American Art, enabling them to acquire contemporary art for their own permanent collections. In 1964, his ultimate gift was the incorporation of The Aldrich Museum. We share Mr. Aldrich's vision of supporting contemporary art, and we look to your support to help us to continue his vision.

As an Aldrich Member you will receive unique opportunities, including special invitations to privately view The Aldrich's exhibitions with the artists, visit private collections and artists' studios, and intimately understand the world of museum curators, art scholars, collectors, and dealers. Aldrich Members at the Silver level and above can elect to support specific Museum projects from group or solo exhibitions to events, children's and family programs, Museum publications, and much more.
